This was our first ‘West African Festival’ and was a wonderful way to see out 2016. All our student groups performed, plus Wassawumba and African Star which is an ensemble made up of some of Melbourne’s best West African percussionists and dancers. Throughout the day, we also had some dance workshops (with Nii Kpakpo Addo and Sackey) and drumming workshops for kids (Shabba Eshun) and adults (Mohamed Camara).
There was a clothing and craft stall from the Ghanaian ladies at ‘Zahara designs’, face painting and yummy African cuisine.
