Drum Classes

We provide three levels of djembe classs each week. You can hire a drum or bring your own. Students will learn basic to advanced technique, co-ordination and foundation patterns using the bass, tone and slap sounds. Fun warm ups lead into the traditonal accompaniments of the African tribal rhythms. You will learn the musical language of the djembe which culminates in an arranged piece including breaks and traditional songs. All level classes have the opportunity to perform publicly together at the end of each term. The four yearly terms follow the state school terms. Its fun, non-competitive, challenging and you will discover and develop your own sense of rhythm while exploring the parameters of ensemble playing. Students will also learn shaker, bell, clapping and dun dun parts that form the tribal rhythms. Invigorate your rhythmical self!

You can pay up front for the term and save some money or you can attend on a casual basis. We sell instructional CD and book packages to help with your progress, We also sell quality hand carved African djembes and bags at student discounted  prices.

Level Three - One or more terms of level 2 djembe required or previous djembe training.

Dun Dun open class

Instruments, coffee and cake provided. This class is suitable for beginners and those with a small amount of dun dun experience.
