Dance class FAQ

What do I wear?

Anything you like! Generally dancers prefer leggings and a T-shirt, no shoes (some people need to wear shoes – that’s no problem at all). BYO drink bottle.

Can I pay on the day?

Yes (cash or card). Payment can also be made through the website here.

I’ve never done a dance class before – can I still join?

Yes. We have lots of first-time dancers. All Melbourne Djembe teachers and students are patient and welcoming.

How do I know which level class will suit me?

It’s best to start off with beginner level, unless you have a few years experience with the West African dance style. You are welcome to stay and watch an intermediate class to see if it suits better. Course passes can be transferred up or down.

If I miss a class, can I use the credit later?

No. If you are booked in for a 5-week block, you have access to videos of all classes (and Zoom) so you can do the class at home or catch up with the video, but credit can’t be carried over.

How do I access class recordings?

If you have booked into a 5-week course live or on Zoom, you are entitled to access class recordings for the duration of the course. You will receive an email with the link directly after the first class. If you haven’t received an email, check your Spam or contact Mitzi – mitzimcrae@hotmail.com/0439334197. Videos are not accessible for those attending casually.

Photos and videos during class

Occasionally Mitzi will be documenting for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed/filmed, please her know at the beginning of the course. This is totally fine.

I paid for a course, but now I can’t make it

You can use the pass for the next available course, as long as we are notified prior to the commencement date. Refunds are not offered unless the course has been cancelled.
