Senegalese dancer Awa Sonko ran a single workshop in Melbourne on 13th December and blew us all away with her vitality, grace and depth of knowledge. She started with some traditional Senegalese rhythms and then taught a choreography for Mendiani. Huge thanks to all the students who participated and to the drumming ensemble including Lamine Sonko, Awa’s brother. Until next time Awa!
