French language incursions – plein de travaille!

2025 was a busy one for French incursions. We have taken our show to 35 schools across Victoria – inspiring thousands of kids to learn French (while jumping around, playing the drums and having an absolute ball!)

Most Australians are surprised to know that more than half of the world’s French speakers live in Africa (167M compared with France’s 68M) and that they’re mostly located in West and Central Africa. Guinea, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Mali are all francophone djembe countries where we have travelled, learning to speak French as well as some of the native languages. Unlike France, very few locals can speak English – it’s a truly immersive experience. Sink or swim!

During our school workshops students learn some French words and then move onto the language of the djembe with Mohamed Camara (Guinea) or Boubacar Gaye (Senegal). Engaging, active and educational across a range of disciplines.
