An unforgettable explosive celebration of NUNGUA HOMOWO from Ghana (West Africa), with support act by the vibrant energy of WASSAWUMBA. A high energy traditional West African live drumming and dance evening that takes you on a music journey of West Africa from the ancestral traditional dances and music of Ghana and its neighbouring countries, to the jazz undertones of Palm Wine songs and Ghana Highlife music.
Β΄HomowoΒ΄- an annual celebration festival that commemorates the day the ancestors won victory over hunger, hooted at it and ridiculed it with songs and dancing.It will be celebrated in Melbourne at the same time as it is happening in Nungua, a township in Accra, Ghana.
ππΌππΌ – ππ ππππ (@walaislife) will be bringing to the stage eight passionate performers, 15 powerful drums and instruments played with fingers, hands, feet and sticks, souring vocals, spectacular dances and colourful costumes, that will keep you dancing like thereΒ΄s no tomorrow.
Firstly to warm up the vibes, ππΌπππΌππππ½πΌ (@melbdjembe), a brilliantly choreographed show of traditional dance, drum and song complete with vibrant costumes and a big sound will be kicking the night off to a firing start.
