The brave djembe and dun dun dance students who made it down to Yarra Bend for Run with the Rhythm (at 8.30am on a Sunday morning!) did an excellent job of enthusing the runners. It poured with rain until the word go, and then we had a fun-filled two hours of sun/hail/rain and plenty of drum and dance. Warm-up dance class to Tiriba and then the crowd set off to swim.. er.. run 5-10km along the banks of the Yarra river. They received a well-deserved congratulatory drum roll and special dance performance upon crossing the finish line.
Huge thanks to Bortier Okoe who came along to the event and taught us some songs and dance moves for Kpatsa.
This event raised over $4,000 for orphans in Botswana.
